Split Sections in RapidWeaver

I’ve recently seen a couple of websites that had split sections. At first I was unimpressed, but then I began to ponder how to go about building them. Turns out that it’s not so simple. One Little Designer to the rescue!

Split, 1LD’s new stack makes those animated split sections a breeze.
A section divided in half. When you hover over one half it expands, causing the other half to shrink.

When you drop Split into a Stacks page, you’ll first see what has become a common sight – two coloured containers, each with an icon, a header, a descriptive text and a button.
The first setting in the Item child stack, however, is ‘Custom Content’; Split can contain anything you care to throw at it – within reason, of course.
I dropped in some content, set a background image and the result is quite impressive. Hover your mouse over the image below and you’ll get an idea of what I’m nattering on about.
