Stacks 2.5

stacks

Yourhead software recently released Stacks 2.5. A couple of minor updates have already been released, so that we can now presume that we are working with a stable version.

hide-lock

I've been working with the update since day one. So what's the best feature in the new version? Not the option in the toolbar to collapse any stack on the page being edited, so that they take up less space, a number of the larger stacks already had this option anyway.
Not the option to lock stacks to prevent them from being
accidentally altered, although this is a really useful option. The best feature is User Stacks!

It took me a while to work out what this feature is: Suppose you worked hard to create a nested set of stacks that will superimpose a slideshow over a responsive (resizable) image. After so much work, you might like to use the slideshow in another project, with different images. Instead of having to remember which page it was, exactly, that you placed the stacks, then copying the nest over to a new project, you can click on 'Create a User Stack' and whisk your new stack away into the Stack Elements palette.

Give the stack name and a subtitle, to allow a search of the Stack Elements palette. The subtitle is also the section that your new stack will appear in. Add a short description, so that you will remember what the stack does and click save. The stack will be in the palette the next time you wish to utilise it.
Definitely a great addition.
